Spring break is a time when people can get away for a week and can relax. Every year, 8th-grade students from Roosevelt and Edison can take a trip to a different country that switches each year. This year, the students went to Italy for eight days. They traveled all over Italy to places like Rome, Capri, Sorrento, the Amalfi Coast, and Mount Vesuvius. This trip had 44 people in total from RIS, including the students, teachers, and some parent chaperones. Liza Bush, a student who went on the trip, said,” My favorite thing from the trip was going to the buffalo farm with mozzarella making in Sorrento and visiting Capri because of how beautiful it was.” Maddie Cymbor, another 8th grade student, stated, “My favorite thing was hanging out with my friends”. Overall, the students who attended this trip had a great time spending time with their peers and teachers, as well as visiting new places.
Even though many students went on the eighth-grade trip, even more people just went away with their families and friends. This year, some popular places that students traveled to were places like Florida, Arizona, the Caribbean, the Dominican Republic, and many other islands and locations. Many students who went away said that their favorite parts of spring break were swimming, eating, and visiting new places. Sydney Rispoli, an eighth grader who went to Florida said, “My favorite things during spring break were going on rides, sitting by the pool, and being in the warm weather.”
Even students who didn’t go away still had lots of fun doing things like sleeping in, hanging out with their friends, going out, and being able to live school free for a week. Some students who didn’t travel far still went on day trips to places like New York City or Philadelphia. Avery Ferry, a student at Roosevelt, said, “Even though I didn’t go away, I loved hanging out with my friends, going to dance, and spending time with my cousins.” Spring break is a time that everyone enjoys, whether it’s going away with friends or family, or just staying at home and relaxing for a week.
