As 2024 came to an end, people started to think about 2025 and began planning their goals and resolutions for the new year.
A New Year’s Resolution is a firm decision to do, or to not do, something starting on the first day of the year. For example, a person can say he/she may want to workout more, not eat as much fast food, or get better grades this year. These resolutions can either be long term or short term and are very similar to a promise a person makes to him/herself. Having a New Year’s Resolution can help people start the year fresh and increase their optimism about things to come in the future.
We decided to ask a variety of people at Roosevelt School what their resolutions are, and below are some of the responses we received.
6th Grade: Mila Hergan: “I want to study harder for my school work and tests in this upcoming new year.” | 6th Grade: Bennett Raths: “I want to practice for at least 30 minutes a day for hockey.” |
7th Grade: Owen Rooney: “My resolution is just to do better at life”. | 7th Grade:– Gillian Vega: “My New Year’s Resolution is to win the soccer championship.” |
8th Grade: Grace Fitzpatrick: “This year I want to improve my grades in school.” | 8th Grade: Charlie Young: “I want to get better at Lacrosse and get my grades up.” |
Teacher: Mrs. Fogel: “I would like to balance my family and work life better.” | Teacher: Mr. Perrino: “I want to get more sleep this year.” |
