Have you ever wanted a good spot to eat and didn’t want to have to wait forever for your table or have to schedule days in advance for reservations? Well after reading this article, you’ll know the ins and outs to all the best restaurants in downtown Westfield.
First up on our list we have Cosimo’s which can be located at 118 E Broad St. Cosimo’s sits right next to Vicki’s Diner and Surreal Creamery. Cosimo’s is an Italian restaurant that specializes in Italian cuisine such as pizza, pasta, and other Italian food. 7th-grader, Jack Nathanson said “good wings, good pasta, good pizza.” With Cosimo’s no matter what you pick on the menu, you can’t go wrong.
At our number two spot we have Northside Kitchen, at 760 Prospect St. Northside Kitchen is very close to Franklin Elementary school, which makes it a great spot for Franklin students to grab a bite for an afterschool snack. It’s even Mr. Losco’s favorite place in town, with the ham and cheese sandwich being his go to order. Northside Kitchen is a Mexican restaurant which specializes in enchiladas and Chicken sandwiches. With outdoor and indoor seating, cookies, sandwiches, tacos, and more, this place doesn’t disappoint.
At our number three spot we have 1950s originals, which is on 13 Elm St. 1950’s originals is a restaurant that serves American cuisine and sells very good hotdogs, with never ending toppings. 6th-grader Rhet Mckelvey stated, “I got a burger and fries and they were really good.” Above all it has some amazing tallow french fries that are the perfect temperature, with just the right crunch to them. While it is a very tiny restaurant there’s much potential as it just recently opened.
At our number four spot we have Taco De Ojo which is located at 106 Central Ave, next to Inspiration Roll and Athleta. Taco de Ojo is considerably similar to Northside Kitchen with a very Mexican environment and excellent Mexican food. 6th-grader Graham Roosevelt says, “the food is very fresh.” According to the majority of students at RIS who have gone, their chicken and rice are delicious and so are their chips, which add a crispy crunchy side to the menu.
At our number five spot we have Korean BBQ , at 256 E Broad St, right next to the Rialto and near the Westfield Bookstore. This place specializes in Korean food and all of the above. You can order many special drinks like boba tea that you usually couldn’t get from a normal restaurant. Many people talk about how soft and flavorful their dumplings are, so when you get the chance, and you’re craving some authentic asian food, Korean BBQ is your place to go.
At our number six spot we have Kirshen Baum, at 62 Elm St which is located next to the Terrace Plant shop and Qdoba Mexican Eats. Kirshen Baum is a pastry shop in downtown Westfield with lots of sweet and savory options to choose from. They specialize in making pastries such as cookies, pies, cakes, and muffins. Many students at RIS have only good things to say about this place, saying that they often go there to get a sweet treat. 8th grader, Luca Giaccobe says that, “their key lime pie is to die for.” With their welcoming staff, cozy atmosphere, and excellent service, Kirshen Baum is a great place to grab a bite to eat.
Last but not least, we have our number seven spot, Hunan Wok. You can find it at 25 E Broad St. next to Five Guys and Rush Bowls. Hunan Wok is a Chinese restaurant in downtown Westfield. They have a variety of options to pick from including chicken dishes, spare ribs, and lots of fried rice. According to 6th-grader Hudson King, “you can’t go wrong with meat sticks and the lo mein.” There is always little to no wait when it comes to ordering at Hunan Wok, so when you get the chance, you might want to stop by.
So now when you’re ever hungry, or if you want quality food and you don’t want to wait so long for your food, make sure you visit one if not more of these seven places, and they won’t fail to deliver.
