Summertime is a season everyone looks forward to—no school, lots of sunshine, and endless ways to have fun. With that in mind, we asked Roosevelt Intermediate School students what they have planned for their summer break, and their answers were full of excitement!
Beach Days and Baseball
Eighth grader Teddy Hostler is heading to Avalon, New Jersey, where his family has a beach house. Teddy explained that there’s so much to do there. There’s a beautiful beach, a fun downtown, and even a boardwalk with rides, games, and food. When he’s not relaxing by the ocean, Teddy will be playing on the Westfield A baseball team, which has won many championships over the years.
Off to Camp
Many Roosevelt students spend their summers at sleepaway camps. Eighth graders Brody Calica and Coby Fisher will each be away for seven weeks—Brody at Camp Westmont in Pennsylvania and Coby at Camp Taconic in Hinsdale, Massachusetts.
Eighth grader Morgan Eckenthal will be heading back to Camp Canadensis in the Poconos, where she’s been a camper for five years. She loves going to the lake and seeing her camp friends while there.
Another camp that’s popular with Roosevelt students is ISTC, the International Sports Training Camp, located in Pennsylvania. It’s a one-week camp where students get to play a different themed sport each day. Campers sleep in bunks with their friends and get to choose their activity groups. Sixth grader Graham Roosevelt is excited to attend ISTC this summer.
Amazing Adventures Abroad
Some students have international trips lined up. Sixth grader Abby Hooks has a big adventure ahead—she’ll be visiting Paris, Greece, and England. She will spend two weeks in Greece with her cousins, then four days in Paris, and then take a train to England to visit family for a week. She’s especially looking forward to visiting Greece for the first time and returning to Paris, which she loved last summer.
Whether they’re traveling the world, hitting the beach, going to camp, or staying active in Westfield, Roosevelt students are set for a summer full of memories. No matter how you spend your break, we hope it’s a great one. See you in September
