On Saturday morning, February 1, 2025, some of the 8th graders from Roosevelt and Edison Intermediate Schools will head to Florida for an exciting STEAM trip. The adventure-packed trip will last until Wednesday, February 4, 2025, and will include educational activities, thrilling tours, and some free time for fun.
The trip begins with a visit to Everglades National Park. Students will explore the park on a boat tour, searching for wildlife like alligators, otters, and turtles. After their wildlife adventure, they’ll head to their hotel to relax and enjoy a few hours of free time.
The following day, the group will spend the day at the Kennedy Space Center, where they’ll go behind the scenes on a guided tour to learn more about space exploration and the history of NASA.
On February 3, the itinerary takes them to Universal Orlando Resort. In the morning, students will participate in a 2.5-hour behind-the-scenes tour, offering a glimpse into how the park operates. In the afternoon, they’ll get to enjoy Universal’s exciting rides before returning to their hotel.
The last day, February 4, will be a busy one. Students will have a free morning at Universal to enjoy more rides and attractions before heading to the airport to fly back home to New Jersey.
Eighth grade math teacher Ms. Scheuerer, who will be one of the chaperones on the trip, shared her enthusiasm. “As a chaperone, I am very excited because I think it is going to be a great trip.”
The STEAM trip is an annual tradition for Roosevelt 8th graders, giving students a chance to bond with friends and teachers while exploring science, technology, engineering, arts, and math outside the classroom. Trips like these are known to help students grow socially, strengthen friendships, and increase engagement with their education.
This year’s 7th graders can start planning for next year’s trip now! Don’t miss this amazing opportunity to combine learning and adventure in sunny Florida.
